The Q CoffeeŽ Program was developed by The Coffee Quality Institute to provide a market alternative to the commodities market. By design, the program guarantees quality while incorporating transparency and social responsibility. The result is a new way to do business that complements existing trading practices and creates a common language for quality.

After a successful pilot in Central America, CQI is now working with the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) to develop an Internet-based system that will serve as a world-wide mechanism for trading quality coffees. This project is in development and more information will be available in the coming months.

In the meantime, Q Grading Services are being offered in Central America. As the only quality certification in the industry, buyers are increasingly utilizing this resource as a convenient and reliable way to evaluate coffees, streamlining the buying process and facilitating communication between buyer and seller. Gradings are conducted by Licensed Q Graders using CQI standards and procedures under the supervision of our in-country partners.
