CQI's Partnership for Gender Equity (PGE) is pleased to be part of the Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Environment (SAFE) Platform. SAFE recently announced the introduction of four new coffee-related development projects in Latin America, representing a total investment of $3.2 million. The Platform’s goal is "to leverage the existing knowledge, expertise and resources to implement projects that either pilot or scale up innovative approaches to the value chain."
There are a lot of stakeholders, financial institutions, and coffee communities involved, but each project is committed to vital topics that plague the specialty coffee community, including gender equity, farmer empowerment, and youth engagement. But specifically, PGE is packaging and testing design for gender equity investment and intervention, and a validated measurement framework. Ultimately, the framework and gender indicators can be integrated into PGE project design, in addition to other performance monitoring systems.
