The DMCC Coffee Centre is a state-of-the-art facility established in 2019 to provide a wide range of services to the entire coffee value chain, from crop to cup. The first of its kind in the Middle East, DMCC Coffee Centre is situated in the Jebel Ali Free Zone Area (JAFZA) and is a centrally accessible meeting point for global producers and buyers. With over 11,500 metric tonnes (MT) of coffee handled and processed to date, DMCC Coffee Centre connects the fast growing and high value consumer markets in the Middle East and Europe, to some of the world’s major coffee producing nations such as Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Uganda and Vietnam. With a vision to transform Dubai into the new global hub for coffee, DMCC Coffee Centre benefits a wide range of stakeholders including coffee farmers, exporters, traders, roasters and retailers.

What does it mean to your company/organization to be an ICP?

DMCC Coffee Centre is a non-profit and Dubai Government body that has established itself in the industry with the main objective of improving coffee quality in the trade and fostering sustainable partnerships.

The Coffee Centre presents a neutral platform for coffee producers and evaluator, to engage, converge, and exchange knowledge and findings with no affiliation.

We understand that, by being CQI In Country Partnership we will be able to receive firsthand information through the CQI, to be able to serve the community in improving their coffee quality.

Provide a summary of what your company/organization accomplishes

Warehouse and storage

• DMCC Coffee Centre has handled and processed over 11,500 MT of green coffee

• 13,716 MT of green coffee can be stored at the centre (equivalent to 704 20ft containers)

Green coffee processing

• Cleaning and de-stoning: 6 MT per hour

• Blending: Maximum of nine varieties in green and roasted silos

• Re-bagging into jute bags with GrainPro and jumbo bags

• Vacuum packing

• Silo storage: 88.5 MT capacity

Coffee roasting, grinding, blending and packing

• 272 MT coffee roasted to date

• Post-roast blending of up to nine varieties

• Roasted coffee silo storage: capacity of 4.8 tonnes for ground coffee and 13.5 tonnes for whole beans

Training and events

• 2,000+ professionals have used the DMCC Coffee Centre training and event facilities to date.

We are a certified premium campus and we have been looking forward to becoming a CQI In Country Partner.

What do you think are the opportunities of CQI's Q Coffees program?

The program is completely independent and coffee can be evaluated without the influence of other factors such as price and farm, with the help of the Q Coffee Program, coffee can be evaluated based only on its quality, allowing the whole supply chain to see it in a different objective.

What do you think are the benefits of being a CQI ICP?

As a Government of Dubai Authority, we are dedicated to establishing Dubai as the global gateway to the Middle East for trade in a wide range of commodities including coffee.

We are a platform that provides service to trades and importers an opportunity to store their coffee, being CQI ICP, the benefits will be more likely for our members where we can do value addition by helping them properly evaluate their coffee using the Q Coffee System.
