CQI is currently seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization into the future. The ideal candidate will exhibit a deep commitment to and passion for the global coffee industry, along with a strong dedication to our mission of improving coffee quality and the livelihoods of coffee producers worldwide.

 Organization Overview: Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is a respected global non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing coffee quality and promoting the advancement of the coffee industry. CQI achieves its mission through the implementation of its renowned Q system, encompassing comprehensive coffee education, Q grader certification, and post-harvest processing professional certification. These programs are widely recognized as rigorous and highly relevant within the coffee industry, empowering professionals to excel at every stage of coffee production, from seed to cup.

 Job Description:  The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CQI plays a critical role in leading the organization and driving its strategic vision and is responsible for the growth and sustainable financial health of CQI. This involves creating and implementing strategies, and working closely with the Board of Trustees and staff to execute the vision effectively.

 Key Responsibilities

Strategic Vision:

  • Develop and articulate a clear strategic vision for CQI, aligning with the organization's mission and long-term goals.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement to position CQI as a leader in coffee quality enhancement.

Financial and Legal Management:

  • Display a solid understanding of financial management principles and ensure responsible stewardship of CQI's     financial resources.
  • Implement effective financial strategies to support our mission and sustain the organization's growth.
  • Oversight of legal agreements and licensing.

Business Development:

  • Lead the development and execution of impactful business strategies, identifying new opportunities to expand CQI's reach and influence within the global coffee industry.
  • Foster strategic partnerships and collaborations to maximize the organization's impact.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilization:

  • Drive the development and implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies, securing resources from public and private sources to support CQI's programs and initiatives.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding agencies to sustain and enhance financial support.

Board Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Board of Trustees, providing insightful guidance and engaging them in strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Board to ensure the successful implementation of the organization's mission and initiatives.

Team Leadership:

  • Inspire and empower a highly dedicated team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to staff, encouraging their growth and fostering a positive work

Qualifications:

·        Significant experience in senior leadership positions within global non-profit organizations, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding ofnon-profit business practices.

·        Extensive knowledge and expertise in managing diverse teams and driving organizational growth.

·        Proven track record in financial management, business development, and fundraising for impact.

·        Strong understanding of the coffee industry, including its supply chain, quality standards, and sustainability challenges.

·        Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to foster relationships and partnerships with stakeholders at various levels.

·        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.

·        Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.

·        Demonstrated passion for social impact, sustainability, and the improvement of livelihoods for coffee producers.

·        Master's degree in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field (preferred).

 

Working Conditions: The work environment at CQI may involve extensive international travel, including both urban and rural areas.
